I purchased a very expensive, (I was making $1.75 per hour at the time) set of Belond headers for my '36 Ford in 1954 when I put the 59AB in my car..
We could not get the left header to clear the steering gears. Out of desperation I took a hammer to the middle pipe.. The right pipe would not clear the right side splash pan so we removed the splash pan..
Looking at the bent up left header and the big gaping hole the missing splash pan created on the right side... I removed the headers, installed the stock '36 Ford cast iron manifolds, reinstalled the splash pan and never looked back.
The Belond headers have been hanging on the wall of my garage since 1960, "Wall Art" of a poorly planned concept...
