Exactly how I remove the ring. The tricky part is removing the seal. Don't bother trying to save it, just have a good claw hammer or pry bar and go at it. Many new seals are too tight and will distort if you drive them in. You may have to sand the O.D. to make them fit. Be sure to blow any sanding dust away, then grease the bearing and seal lip. Don't drive the seal in any more than just enough to get the snap ring back in place.
