Default Spring Washers, '47 Brakes

Within the last month, swapped out the front brakes on my '47 for Lincolns. On the Ford brakes I found the spring washers as described and took one with me to Richard at Early V8 Garage. Richard showed me his modest stock of those washers but I inferred that they were of his hold out stash for special use and not for usual sale. Not a problem for me since I was going with the Bendix brakes, and did. As for the drawing on Mac's site, I checked that one also and see that the spring washers are not shown. The scale and resolution is not clear, but they are not there if you know what to look for. As for their future use: You might find that they are not needed if the correct size cotter pin is used on assembly and there is no excess play. Don't get it too tight because the centering of the shoe depends on being able to move. At those pressures though, that would have to be really tight. Good Luck: Fred A
