Here is my 2 cents worth....Since you have a roadster and I going to assume that your engine is sound and tight. If all you did was add a HC head you will be more than fine since the car is so light. If you then add a cam and maybe an OD later, you will be more than fine. The headers and dual carbs. are for the racers in my opinion. As far as reliability, you can't really improve that much on it as it is really reliable if done correctly as is.

The mods I did to my car are more for keeping up with traffic here in Cali. as my car is so heavy. I still drive her at the 50 mph mark as I don't trust the other drivers and lights around my neck of the woods.
