One of the great advantages of a Ryan or Mitchell overdrive is they are very affective when driving in the mountains. You have six speeds forward. Second gear overdrive is very handy when climbing a grade. Same for coming down with engine braking.

Best to stay off the brakes as much as possible when coming down a grade or they will overheat and you won't have any.
