Default Re: Fuel guage question

The current pulse system was very reliable but nothing lasts forever. The OEM gauge was a King Sealey product made to work with whatever current was allowed back from the sending unit. The indicator gauge can be tested with different dry cell batteries that have lower voltages to see if the gauge works in different levels. It would take a variable resistor to check it from full to empty on a 6-volt car battery.

There are fuel gauge interface modules available now that can be used to set low side resistance and full scale resistance to get a functional system from a rheostat type sender. Just google fuel gauge adjustment module to take a look at them. I have no idea how well they work or how long they last but they are available from different sources with different prices. Some are kind of pricey.
