Re: 34 trip
Well, we have started the trip, back home,
A few issues though, got the wheels balanced, before leaving, the fitter only did the static balance on them, it drove OK sort of, but felt like it was only a mm away from a shimmy,
Took it back and he tells me it would need 500 grams to get it right, so I left it as it was,and headed off.
The days drive was 220 miles and it was on some really bumpy roads ,so it did not feel that good, but at the end of the day was ok.
Get up this morning , car had a layer of frost on it,got the jack and wheel brace ready, as i was going to swap, some wheels around when we stopped for smoko and lunch, but at smoko it was as smooth as, so left the wheels as the were,
Lunch stop was different, as I walked past the back wheel ,I see it was split on the rim,( this was the spare that we changed when the tyre joint said the one that was on the front was buckled, )and was not in as good a condidtion as the ones on the car,``
So i changed this out and put the one that was supposed to be buckled on,
it has the spare tyre that is quite low on the tread, but funny, the car now drives pretty good, not quit like before but pretty close.
Only thing is we now only have the split rim as a spare, hope it will be OK ,we have about 1700 miles to home.
We drove down a little side trace to look at a memorial , for the locals from the area who served in WW1 and WW2,quite sobering to think that from such a small community gave there all.
Engine has used no oil this last 900miles
Funny thing , oil pressure when cold at 50 mph is around 48 psi, and when the engine is right up to temp after 20 miles or so its 55psi.
We are at broken hill for tonight and tomorrow will be in Cobar for a day or so,
