Hi Lawrie. I think I would prefer to still have the tapered roller double bearing set up still in the front of the generator which are in there for a reason to handle the fan thrust. I dont rely on the oil lubrication but pack the bearings with front disk brake high temp grease after first inspecting the rollers and race for wear and washing them out . People dont like buying new ones because of the cost..Have to be very particular about the adjustment just like the front wheel bearings. Correct belt adjustment is very important too. Regards, Kevin.
