Default Re: Van Pelt Transmission Book - how to get it

There are only a very few details that aren't in his manual. The one thing I can relate is the normal gap between the blocker rings and the synchronizer teeth. It should be approximately the thickness of a US quarter. Most every thing else is in there. Anything else can be answered here in the early V8 section. Mac checks it along with the rest of us so don't be surprised if he would be the one to respond. He is a very good source for both new and good used parts.

The 1939 version was the last major update for the type so it would need the associated parts. It has the late style synchronizer assembly and shift fork plus the double detent shift tower used up into the early F1 pickups years. The cars changed to side shift in 1940 but a lot of the guts interchange. Mac lists all the gears by part number and what they all fit with so the manual is invaluable for that reason alone.
