2) These hub caps and reported story for them were only on cars produced in the first three weeks or SO production. Are they rare, in that sense, yes BUT IMO there are two other sets of FULL Stainless Steel caps that are MORE rare than these...as I have documented 5 different sets of caps available for the 39 Mercury. Just how many cars are out there that would fit that criteria (Early Ford V8 Club judging standards) for them to be "correct" on a car........ the odds of that is slim at worst, I would bet none to one at this juncture of the car collecting hobby and amount of 39 Mercury's I see.
2) You have to find someone who is into Mercury's.....We are pretty much out on a Island as they are SO different than Ford's and NO real reproduction parts, very "few" used parts AND restoring them these days is difficult at best.
4) There are two that I have followed for MONTHS now on EPay....one is asking $ 450.oo the other $499.oo the key word in this take is "MONTHS". There have been one or two other AND a set of 4 in recent past....The set of 4 IF memory serves she was asking like $800/$900 dollars, which did not sell. I talked to her and gave her my "take" on them and gave her a price range that I would be willing to pay IF she decided that she wanted to sell them and never heard another word nor have I seen them listed again "for sale".
5) Depending on the condition, I would be interested in them, AS mentioned before, I have two sets of 4ea and would like to have one more each for the spare tire. IF you so desire, you can PM me and I will give you my contact information to pass along to the owner. MY guess and bet would be that I am one of very very few who would be interested.....IN deference to what FORD38V8 posted above.....No offense to his take by any means.
