Re: Trip away in the 34
A really easy day today,just 250 klms.
But all of it on a real remote country road,
We missed the turn off (well I did) from the main road out west and had to double back,
First thing on the right road was this mob of emus, who were very inquisitive and came close the the fence, but soon moved off when we got out of the car.
There were a few road trains ,we pulled over when ever one came along, they were carrying cattle and some stuff we couldn’t see, it’s always best to get right off the road.
City slickers in Caravan are a different story, they don’t want to. move off the centre of the road,if they do,they stay at speed and put the off side wheels into the dirt and spray rocks everywhere.
Further on we stopped for lunch at what is called a point of interest, here the explorer Thomas Mitchell passed here in June 1846.
The river here is the third longest navigable river in the world.funny,it’s just sand.
Further along we stopped at another point of interest, here in Australia we had folks that were similar to the outlaws ,but meaner.
These guys had at the encounter with the constable and station master, burnt the bodies and hacked them up, put them in the saddle bags and set the horses off.
Nice people,not.
We are in Mitchell for the night,
The 34 is still going great, and we are enjoying ourselves for sure
