Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?
38 Ford Flathead "old school hot rod"..working on issues, and need help. The car arrived with negative ground. I want to change it back to positive, 6V ground (reverse the battery to being correct for the car when produced. It starts, runs, on the negative ground, but I don't think the seller had the generator, which has the attached fan on it..a 59A in the car ..that it was polarized to negative. I know the POS goes to a good ground. The NEG goes to the solenoid, etc..I think the coil should be a non-resister coil, as the resistor is under the dash. So I wire the negative wire to the PLUS on the coil? negative on down to the distributor and points? That's what I'm working on today. I have studied everything I can find on it, the Youtube etc, but nobody really shows what goes "Where"..except for the diagrams for a 38 Ford. Of course the generator is for the 59 A.. and when I run it to dial in the 97 carbs, when I shut her down, the battery shows a discharge, telling me I don't think it is functioning and wrongly polarized...can't wrap my mind around it and help would greatly>> be appreciated.
