Tony, no, they were a solid, flame cut slug with the radius’s part of the cut. The stock axle was cut in two places on each end and the slugs were welded in place. Okie told me he held eight different welding certificates at one time. I was also told that some of the slugs were used as door stops at Blair’s after Okie stopped working there. I believe Pete Eastwood was the one who told me that. I really got into researching and talking to him after Lewis McMillan installed one of his axles under the Arvel Youngblood ‘32 roadster.
