I have had three of those pullers. One original and two reproductions. All of them had threads in the nut that screws onto the end of the axle. I’m now interested to know if they ever made them without threads because sometimes I have to unscrew the nut to achieve enough pull to get the drum to completely break free. Without threads, you would never be able to do that.
