Kiwi -- There is a seat adjustment lever which will move the seat front to back. I cleaned the track and mechanism on mine, slid the seat back.
Then installed so that the front bolt holes are on the rear most holes in the floor. If I remember correctly, the front bolts, pass through rubber body mounts.
Driving a car designed and built 74 years ago is an adventure at times.
