Lanny, let's try again. Attached are a couple of additional pictures that clearly show the gasket trough. The water tray I am referring to is the approximately 5/16" gap between the gasket trough and the cowl vent screen, the drain is in the center at the front as shown in the photos in post 12 of this discussion.

I don't see any indication that someone added that drain after the car was manufactured in 1937.
