You were lucky.I worked in an engine reconditioning shop after my apprenticeship at GM,
but all we did there was zephyr engines( not the V12) and BMC heads. things were so tight then ,we even stripped and refaced hyd lifters, expanded pistons and re ring jobs.
I must have learned a bit since then though, our dragster goes great, my 33 does lots of mile towing.
