My 54 Meteor was stuck but a "ran when parked" in 1966. I could not turn it over with a ratchet/socket on the crank. Plugs were removed and I soaked the cylinders, trans in 3rd gear I pushed the car back and forth. I saw the fan move SLIGHTLY.
If I remember it right, I kept working it back and forth, it would only turn a degree or two in each direction when I started, but eventually I was able to get a full revolution.

It is now a fantastic running engine, no smoke and has great oil pressure.
