My memory from rebuilding a 1901 is that there are no gaskets below the fuel line in the float bowl. You have a confusing issue.

I downloaded a manual for the carb, looked at the diagrams and there are only a couple things in the fuel bowl, main jets, power valve and main fuel inlet needle/seat. After I shut the car off, I've noticed gas dripping from the accelerator pump discharge nozzle. I've managed to learn just enough so far to get me in trouble, so I'm not digging into anything yet !!! LOL
