My 37 pickup had an unsettling clunk in the drivetrain when going from forward to backing up or the other way around. I pulled the rear end out, disassembled the torque tube and found a lot of play at the rear drive shaft coupling. Pulled it apart to find the splines on the coupling, driveshaft end, were almost gone. Luckily the driveshaft and pinion shaft were fine. I fit a new coupling and put it all back together.
