I don't know how other states do it, but in MN. if you want to put "Collector"Plates
OR "Street Rod" plates on the old car or pickup, you pay $150 for the plates and the Tax, even if you paid a million dollars for it. When you transfer it, transfer fee is $35.00.
If it's an old car or pickup that you've had in your name for over One year,
then you just pay $15.50 for the Street Rod or Collector plate, and pay the
$35 fee to transfer, so the new title has this new info on it. NO sales tax.
