If it has the 4.27 :1 rear gears, you can go to the 3.73:1 rear gears if you can find some or 3.92:1 gears out of a 49 or 50 Mercury car will work. This would help some anyway. Using an overdrive transmision would help even more.

It just depends on whether you want the original Dana 41 rear axle or a later 9".
