No sealant needed as water will not leak or seep in from under the floor board but, I would attach hardware to a painted surface. Here's a few more photos. My belts are 3 in wide.
Be sure NOT TO DRILL any holes in your mufflers or frame rails. Make sure your belts are installed so that they will "fit" both large and smaller folks when the seat has to be adjusted.
