To switch to an aftermarket cam in a relatively stock engine is quite expensive, and any cam you choose will reduce low end torque. Your best bet would be to increase compression. Any cylinder head you choose, stock or aftermarket can be angle milled over the valves to leave .050" clearance. Usually around .070/.080, now this stock engine will have around 8:1 Cr, bored to 5/16 9:1 all for less money than a cam assy. Using a modified SBC distributor and 2GC carb. Unfortunately, the engine will look like it's perfectly stock. The upside, more power where you need it and fantastic gas mileage/
