I have split a die before now, and wound it off the thread from the other side of the damage.
I wouldn't want to buy an expensive one, but some of the imported tap and die sets go up that big and are not a lot of money.
To be honest a 14 tpi thread could probably be cleaned up nicely with a small three cornered file.
