An additional idea (to the above tip) is to replace the stock pins that attach shifter arms to transmission side cover with fine threaded nuts and bolts after you replace the seals.
Can be done with the transmission in the car. Clutch arm also. Still working great 20 years later. Zero play as all components are threaded. No pin peening required.
