Usually it would be, but check the rating of the switch. A 6 volt circuit needs twice the amps to do the same work as a 12 volt circuit, and in certain circumstances, that may be a problem. Every switch I have ever seen has a rating, either amps or watts that should be somewhere on the switch which will allow you to determine if it is adequate for your purpose.
On a practical basis, you will probably never run into this problem in real life, because most switches are very robust.
