I made a pair of "saw horses". They are taller than a typical saw horse and have a pair of curved boards on each end to hold the fender securely.
I (first) paint the insides of the fenders by placing them in a common paint rack. Once they dry and I have wet sanded and buffed the insides, I tape up (insides) and place them on the horses.
Repeat

I can get you a photo tomorrow if you like.

I should have thought of these years ago as they have made my life much easier.
