Yes I have done this. As I recall, I covered the clock face to protect it, took 2 pocket screwdrivers and bent a slight curve in them, and gently pried the hands off. I had to enlarge the holes in the hour hand, then drill a small hole in the minute hand put it on the clock shaft and screw a tiny nut on it to hold it. Not exactly stock appearing but close.
