With respect, the channels drain into the same general area as the entirety of the back edge of the rumble lid so adding weatherstripping to the channel does nothing to stop the primary source of water intrusion, i.e. the opening at the back of the rumble lid. What is stopping water intrusion forward of the bottom cushion is the retainer for the back of the rumble seat bottom cushion which serves as a dam to contain the water so that it will drain out the holes in the rear of the floor pan. That formed sheet metal retainer/dam is often missing if any repair work has been done of the floor in that area.
