Heres what i've heard... Antfreeze becomes acidic after long use, your coolant system then becomes a battery and eats your metal components. Worse with aluminum. Simple and cheap preventive maintenance to buy 50/50 mixed antifreeze and replace every 5 or 6 years. Drop one probe of a DVOM into the radiator coolant while grounding the other probe to the engine block. If you get more than .2v it's time to replace.
