I just picked up a set at AutoFair and the had the screw...finally found the following info in the Judging Standards (1981 - pg 16-5). Beginning in 1930, cowl lamps were shaped similar to headlights, and were stainless steel. They were standard equipment on all deluxe cars, and offered as accessories on other vehicles. The early 1930 cowl lights were assembled with a screw through the rear of the bucket. The mid-1930 and 1931 type were fastened with a rivet (cadmium plated). This type had the lens rim fastened with a screw. The 1930 - 31 arms were chrome plated. I was thrilled when I found this info as I thought maybe I had picked up a set of repo lights.
