Re: Wayne Carini gets a 36 Ford pickup
I just watched that. It was a very nice truck. While he was at it, he bought the guy's high quality '32 Highboy. He bought the truck to pull the V8-60 midget racer with a neat custom made trailer that he just bought to accompany the 1947 10th place Indy 500 finisher he also just bought. He then bought an "Offyette" (rare and expensive) quarter midget to put in the truck bed. Then he had the truck and custom midget trailer repainted to his color scheme. At the end of the show, he displayed the repainted truck and trailer. However, the paint job on the V8-60 midget must not have beent dry yet, so he had his newly purchased 110 Offy midget in the trailer. There was no doubt he purchased all of this for his personal collection.
I generally like Carini and his show, but this was a bit over the top. Looks like there's a LOT of money in doing high-end restorations combined with a TV show. The next half hour was dedicated to him and some other old guy trying to get a museum-stored Packard running. The two of them looked like a couple of old "fumble-fingers" to me. It took them FIVE days to get a car from long time excellent storage running.
