Default Re: Adjustable drag link

I see a lot of people asking about adjustable drag links, but I still can't see why they are needed. The steering wheel was not centered when the car was built new,so why does it need to be centered now? Ford put two keyways in the wheel when it was made, and the service bulletins tell you to pull the wheel off and install using the other keyway if a spoke blocks the speedo.I have four A's sitting here right now that we are looking at.Two have shortened pitman arms and the arms on both hang down perfectly straight. On the two cars with stock arms one hangs down a little to the front, and the other a little to the rear.I know in theory the change in a short pitman arm comes out to be in thousandths, but does it make any real life difference in driving? With a bunch of other steering modifications I can see it being needed, but is it needed on a stock A?
