i am a little late with a reply but;i cut the required louvers,to be removed about one and a half inch above the opening i wanted, 11 louvers in may case,if this cut is straight and in the right place it makes the job a lot easier. I cut the lower section of the hood 1 inch below the bottom of the louvers to be removed ,and moved this section up to create the opening i wanted. I spliced the louvers close to start of the flair on the section i moved up,welding the splice close to the flair made it easier for me to control alignment, warpage and makes the splice less noticeable. After cutting splicing and welding, i fabed a frame from half inch sq. Tubing and welded it on the back side of the hood as a stiffener.i used a mig and am only a fair welder.ps i used a practice hood.good luck ed
