I don't know what was done --pictures would help, but if I was to use "A" trans parts I would think the input shaft, and 2-3 sliding gear would be what would work for an "in-out", it has no syncro, and has a male(input shaft) and female (2-3) gear like teeth that fit together ---you could look online at A parts houses for pictures ---one that wasn't good enough for a driving A should be good enough for your needs -2nd gear gets worn but the 3rd gear part rarely is damaged, the spline is close to the driveshaft size (probably fits as is), the input shaft probably was cut off and welded to a flange.
