I've had both, and now have a '38.
I prefer having wind wings, for all practical reasons.
For most other reasons, I prefer the '39 for a mix of practical and aesthetic reasons.
I prefer my '38 for its superior braking system.
Surprised? The '39 - '48 hydraulic brakes left a lot to be desired. Nuff said.
