About 60 years ago, when I was a teenager, I had a Model A coupe, the brakes were always really hard to push, but they worked. One day when I made a stop I noticed that when I pushed the brake pedal, the transmission would raise up. When I looked under the car I could see the back of the transmission sitting on the brake cross shaft. Don't remember exactly what it was, but there was a problem with both rear motor mounts not holding the back of the engine up. Fixed the motor mounts and cured the hard to push brake pedal.
