As long as you are straight forward with a potential buyer about what the machinist informed you, you shouldn't have any trouble selling one as is. Most folks looking for one will know that they seldom come without some kind of issue that can be repaired. It's when they end up with cracks or something that can't be repaired that there would be a problem. It might be a good idea to get it Magnafluxed to cover your end. The shipping on heavy items is such that you wouldn't want it coming back. That and some LPS-3 or something like it to protect the metal further.
