The poor original and aftermarket design of the 32 to 53 Ford water pumps are very inefficient and sit in their housing slipping, spinning and stirring up more air than water. To make things worse as far as cooling early "rocket scientist" ( early stock car people) drilled holes in the small sparse impellers or cut off every other impeller blade. This reduced flow and less water was pushed out of the over flow tube and the engine ran slightly cooler because more water remained in the system. The more water in the system and the more pushed through the radiator the cooler the engine temperature. In order to force the water through the radiator the system needs a 4 lb pressure cap or Skips 3 lb valve on the overflow tube. Forced air passing through the radiator fins is also a BIG requirement to cool these engines. At 45 or 50 MPH plenty of air is provided, at very low speeds and idle on hot days the engine fans on most years is not enough and higher engine temperatures occur. Skip don't rebuild pumps to the stock configuration, he modifies them to produce almost DOUBLE the flow through the engine. The bodies are all remachined and shot blasted, a seat for the new turbine impeller is machined into the body, New hard SS shaft ground to the correct OD, new modern seal and assembled to the proper clearances for maximum flow. Every pump is tested on a water pump test machine and run for at least 5 minutes and the results posted in Skips log book. They are dried good, and prime painted ready for shipment. In almost 20 years NO ONE has ever been charged for repairs if required which is rare. If you have a problem Skip answers the phone. G.M.
