In the early to mid 60s I remember paying 17.9 cents at the Powerine station in Southern California. We got a coupon for a penny's worth of gas with each gallon making the price 16.9. Those coupons...

Dura=Built Flatheads were common around my neighborhood ( San Gabriel Valley) in the 50s and 60s.

I have used a Harbor Freight 5" disc sander with a valve guide clamped to the table for this task with good results.
