Re: Brake drum question

There is NO workable replacement for the late style ('42 - '48) brake drums which fit INSIDE the hub. Only reasonable replacement consideration is Boling Bros. early drum mounted on an early hub,...

Re: 48 Ford rear grease seal snap ring

Very carefully, using one or two very skinny screwdrivers to fish-out one side. Do yourself a huge favor and file/grind the opposite angle on one of the ends (so it's easier next time) BEFORE you...

Re: Final Drive ratio, will a 3.25/1 be too steep ??

The idea here is to get a trans with WHATEVER gear ratios you want, and then to swap the "S-10" tail shaft housing and short shift rod from an S-10 to move the shifter forward. It all bolts together!...

Re: Troubleshooting Transmission '47 pickup

GB SISSON ..... Your low (1st gear) is going to be either a 2.82, -OR- 3.114. And you're correct - those cast-in numbers have nothing to do with the application on a T5.

Re: 1940 Ford Hood Alignment

That was our very own "Mart" from Solihull, England (a frequent contributor) that was performing that swap. Maybe you could PM "Mart" to ask and find out the answer.

Re: Ford Liquamatic auto trans in '41 Merc/Lincoln- has anyone seen one?

I'm curious about the source from which you may have copied this very descriptive and informative article on the "Liquamatic" transmissions by Ford.

Re: Ford Liquamatic auto trans in '41 Merc/Lincoln- has anyone seen one?

Those Chrysler/Dodge units had a torque converter in the mix. You could literally stop the vehicle in gear with your foot on the brake pedal while the engine continued to idle.

Re: Can This Wheel Cylinder be Saved?

WHY? You're gonna put in the extra effort to do a great job (just like Jim Pullen is famous for). It's STILL likely to leak, and then you're REALLY gonna be pissed! WHY JIM?
