Fix the problem, take the tower off and build up the ball so it dosen't flop around - welding.

Hold it up with a piece of wire and give it a quick tap with another peice of steel or hammer, it should have a slight ring to it, if it thuds it's cracked. Just like you would with a crankshaft. ...
