Re: The Terry Burtz 5 main bearing engine blocks are back on track.

Yes there is that chance. And there will be a seminar at the convention with Terry Burtz and the new engine, including at least 2 cars there with a running Burtz engine, both of which I was told...

Re: The Terry Burtz 5 main bearing engine blocks are back on track.

The iron foundries here are one thing another are the crankshaft and the connecting rods. Add up the cost of having all of the parts cast or forged and machined and I think you will find it will cost...

Re: BURTZ Engine info Q....

The original Model A bolt is 7/16-14. The guide online for installing an oil filter recommend drilling the block to the size required for a 7/16” helicoil. Then tap the threads for a helicoil that is...

Re: Modern engine

I was told they overheated when pulling steep grades. Not my experience, I was just told from a few old timers.

Re: Engine question

Who’s crank broke on you? I had one break also. I’d like to know where you get a Scat crankshaft for that amount of money. Snyder’s price is $1,700, and if you price one from Scat they want about...

Re: BURTZ Engine info Q....

Stay tuned, I know they are working on it. I don’t know the price or who will be selling them. I had mine made by a machinist local. He used 7/8” hex in case I ever wanted to go the next size bigger...

Re: Engine question

I have a new Burtz Block Kit. I can’t say enough how much better it is than rebuilding an old engine. There is no way I would throw the money away on an old Original Model A engine. This engine has...

Re: The new Burtz Mosel A engine

I’m not far behind on getting mine running. I have about a half of a day buttoning up the engine itself and then getting it in the frame and all hooked up. Only thing I need to fabricate is the oil...

Re: The new Burtz Mosel A engine

Yes, they are made in China

Tail Dragger, I can see part of your problem. You need to take each one of your inserts and check for fit in the notches. Don’t force them in, you could have a burr in...

Re: Rust 911 Contact Info?

They sell through Amazon. That’s where I bought mine from I think both times at least the last time. You can ask questions there and get a reply.

Re: The new Burtz Mosel A engine

If I may, I would like to add as I was taught and have built more engines that I can remember in the past, but each and every engine I have put together I checked clearance with plastic gage. Every...

Chris, You started this thread, I assumed it was for a Burtz block.

Re: The Terry Burtz 5 main bearing engine blocks are back on track.

The oil filter kit that you have a link to WILL NOT work with a Burtz block. The Burtz block is in no way like a original Model A engine oiling. Your builder needs to read all of the guides that are...

Re: Headlights for my '28

There is no need to change the headlights. If your existing headlights are single bulb all you need are 32/50 bulbs. You only need to keep your light switch matching your harness. Buy a switch from...

Re: Door latches

Agree on the originals. Reproductions came with my pickup when I bought it. The drivers side wouldn’t lock and I welded up the tab that slides under the tab to keep the handle from turning.

Re: Snyder 5.5 head

So just curious, if Snyder approved the change, can the pattern(s) be changed, or will new patterns need to be made?

Re: Snyder 5.5 head

Itís doubtful Tod will ever do that. Both of my heads, a 6:1 and the other 5.5:1 are shorter and when measured to compare both arenít as wide as an original. Width not as much but length definitely...

Re: Car cover question

What most people don’t realize is that California Car Cover, their covers are made by Covercraft. I have bought numerous covers in the past from California CC and they have Covercraft tags on them.
