Re: tire with

You can reduce tire pressure in the spare for your tire well to perhaps 20 pounds or so to fit it if needed - and it will still get you home.

Re: thoughts on the Model A engine?

There is nothing wrong with a nice original Model A motor. Why can't we just leave them like they were made - which was pretty dam good. "To each their own" - but why do we need to make race cars...

Re: Need help getting headlights wired properly

Looks like, in the time it took me to write the previous post, you posted that you did indeed purchase and install a new harness - good move.

Smile Re: Need help getting headlights wired properly

I had some trouble with an old wiring harness this past summer on my '30 roadster. Bought a new wiring harness from Smith and Jones for about $72. Only took me a few hours work to get old one...

Re: How fast should I drive?

If you want to go 60 + mph, I would recommend a Toyota Camry. Don't mean any rudeness here to anyone, but these Model A Fords were made from 1928 thru 1931. They are durable cars that will perform...

Re: Does it run in cold weather ?

I drove a Model A to high school back in 1965 and 1966 - in Maine. Lots of winter days it was below zero, but my little truck never let me down. My father put #10 oil in it during the coldest...

Tom Wesenberg's Model A

Nice article in the March issue of "Classic Car" featuring Tom Wesenberg's Model A phaeton - a remarkably original car. (I apologize if someone has already mentioned this in a post - I did a quick...

Re: starting engine for the first time

Maybe refers to the cam plunger and spring in the timing gear case? Makes a hell of a knock if not right or missing.

Re: 1931 Roadster Dash Rail Question

I understand Chris above, but I've had a fiberglas dash rail on my '30 delux roadster for 35 years now. It fit good, looks good, and I'm ok with it. It still looks good. We're all different.

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield

Well Chris - I meant the body frame of course. And Larry - thanks for waiting at the top of the hill. I'm in 2nd gear now - chugging along - - - - Hang on - I'll get there.

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield

OK Purdy - I see your points. I suppose there are only so many good original head left. And saving gas is always a good thing for the environment. And people do get impatient following a Model A...

Re: Question for Larry Brumfield

What's wrong with Henry Ford's heads? Geez - I don't want to go 65 miles an hour in a car with a wood frame and mechanical brakes. And I kinda like saving the money and enjoying the old Model A as...

Re: Shorting/Arcing At Starter Rod

I would (after disconnecting the battery) take the starter switch off the top of the starter after unscrewing the rod of course, and check it out real good. I't easy enough to do, and the switch...

Thumbs down Re: Retired at last

Good for you Clyde - you're going to love being retired - like being on vacation every day. I retired last January. One project was to get my '30 roadster running after 18 years of hibernation. I'd...

Re: At last head off.

John - we've got a lot better stuff than WD 40 now - over here anyway. Kroil is very good. PB Blaster is excellent in my opinion. There's another called Sea Foam. I've seen these products disolve...

Re: failure of modern points

This old pickup has been with me 45 of the last 62 years. I may go back to the original setup - certainly have enough of them in my stores. (there's one box marked in my father's handwriting...

Re: failure of modern points

Sorry Benson - can't be any help on that one. No markings on the points. They came in a poly bag from one of the Model A parts distributors.

failure of modern points

Thought I'd pass my experience of yesterday along, since it may help someone else. (I've been reading some old posts about intermittent and complete failure of modern style points at times. I...

Re: does water in rad work better

But what about corrosion? Also, what about in New England and other cold places when the temperatures go down? There is always a risk of "forgetting" - especially as we get older. Sometimes people...
