Re: 1936 Overheating Problem
http://attachment.php
I would check timing using vacuum gauge.
Adjust distributor to optimize vacuum reading.
(I think the attachment is for gauge readings, if not search on Ford Barn)

Re: ‘36 LB. temp ranges, thermostats?
I use a vacuum gauge with car idling. I adjust distributor to get highest reading then drop back slightly. Use search as this topic has been discussed frequently and vacuum readings are well covered.

I don’t know where I got this from but I have used several times. It has no identification. It fits in the engine with the intake manifold removed. Sorry I don’t have any pictures of in use.

Re: Spark Advance versus Overheat
I am a believer in the vacuum gauge.
I don’t have any experience with Pertronix so I am not sure if this negates gauge use.
What reading do you get ?

Re: Rear Axle Housing Bearing
When I replaced bearings in my 34 I purchased through Joblot Automotive (no longer in business). They supplied Timken bearings and they match up with what you have posted.

Re: Point gap affect on timing
Sorry I failed to mention I have returned to original coil and condensor (tested) and resistor is connected.
Carb is 97 and I will be looking at it further as it still seems to be leaking from...

I have had some success with my distributor problem. Observe the taper on the offset cam connect. I replaced with another that was rectangular and am now getting a reasonable vacuum 22. A...

Re: 1934 Door Lock
As a matter of curiosity, my keyed door lock is on the passenger side. Is this correct?
What is the reasoning for this?

Re: Point gap affect on timing
[B]
[/B ]I will replace condenser. Do you have NAPA number for 1936 (40B) condenser?
I will have to borrow a compression gauge so it might be a few days before I report back.

Re: Point gap affect on timing
Still playing around with solving this problem.
I once again tightened down manifold and carb (vac leak)
Cleaned and gaped plugs. Would appear to be running rich (black carbon)
Checked to make...

Re: Point gap affect on timing
I'm back.
Here is my update.
I tried the lazy way (setting points at .015) and no improvement.
I used Willit Stop procedure and no change.
Before I go the route of buying a rebuild and possible...
