Re: Oil filter adapter question

Thanks for the tip about over tightening. Hopefully it will work and I won't be cleaning up a mess.

Re: Oil filter adapter question

Thanks Darrell. Going to see if I can make it work without leaking.

Oil filter adapter question

I am replacing the oil filter adapter (canister to screw on) on my 272 because it was leaking from the gasket area that goes between the adapter plate and the block. Received the new one yesterday...

Rams Horn Bolts

Hello folks. Anyone have a source for the header bolts for rams horns on a 272? They are two different lengths. I found one vendor (CJs), but they are out of stock. Thanks, Glenn

Re: Name of fitting?

Thanks Mike, I found that one too and ordered it. My heater has a control valve on the hose that goes to the heater core.

Re: Name of fitting?

No, mine is just a short one in an L shape without the silver thing on top in the picture. It does look like it is screwed into the intake with a square top and the hose fitting coming out the side...

Name of fitting?

Hello folks. What is the name of the coolant fitting near the front center of the intake on a 292? (The one that runs to the heater core) Just found mine to be pretty corroded/thin and would like to...

Re: Muffler Selection

Thanks Ron, that is what I am looking for, nice rumble but not annoying inside. I know my interior insulation will have a lot to do with that.

Re: Muffler Selection

Thanks guys, one of those things that is hard to choose sometimes. This is my first 292, so a little different for me. Have only dealt with 260s, 289s, 302s and 351s in the past. I know the 292 is a...

Muffler Selection

Hello folks. I found some vintage Rams Horns for my 292. While I think the crossover pipe is kind of cool and vintage, I would like dual exhaust out the back. So, with that in mind, has anyone tried...

Re: Hello folks, first post (here) and new project

Mine appears as though it will work fine. I cannot really tell if the front crossmember has been moved or not, but there is at least an inch of clearance between the crossmember and the sump portion...

Re: Hello folks, first post (here) and new project

408400

It appears the front crossmember has been moved forward at some point in time to allow for the front sump oil pan to work in the engine bay. It is not running now because the motor has...

Re: Hello folks, first post (here) and new project

Thanks a lot DMS, great info. It appears I have a 292 from a “full size car” and I am okay with that. The timing chain cover currently on the motor is like the unpainted one in your pictures. The one...

Thanks Mike, forgot to add my location when I registered, got it now. Also, thanks for the other sites as well. Steep learning curve for me with the Y-block.

Re: Hello folks, first post (here) and new project

Thanks Darrell, that was just more of an assumption on my part. Did this motor not come in a T-Bird? Not a big deal, just curious.

Hello folks, first post (here) and new project

I recently purchased a '56 F100 with a 292 in it. The previous owner bought the motor from someone that rebuilds and sells them. Shortly after he installed the motor he was diagnosed with a medical...
