I agree 100%, the new ones are very hard to get back in the starter hole and aligned up.

Any other out there voting for the new vs the old style?

Use slip plate, no grease and spring covers.

I purchased these and hooked one up to my flasher that I have on my hidden turn signals behind my kick panel.

So now I have a light and a beeper.

No way would I ever drill the glass.

I have lost a few in the past. And since I have used contact cement on all the contact points I am able to drive 60 mph all day and I am ok. Its been good...

I am unclear of the question, but On my 31 roadster I do not have any "numbs" in the inner ring, or indents.

The 3 indents are done with the spider at the bottom of the steering column.
