Re: Just wondering : what's your year of birth ?

I'm writing all the names and birth dates down in my journal. Can you guys please include the last 4 numbers to your social security cards so I can complete the requirements to earn my official Boy...

New museum name change for Ford

Anyone know the real reason behind the name change after so many years? I know what the article says, but usually there is more to the story than what a Director may state.

Re: Should I get my air bag inspected?

Do your tires still have the original Model A air in them?

Re: Should I get my air bag inspected?

I had a PT Cruiser a few years back and the glove box to it was a classic example of "truth in advertising" in that it really only held one singular glove. :-)

Re: Should I get my air bag inspected?

There is maintenance required on a Model A Ford? Gosh, by the way the previous owner treated mine before I bought it, I never would have remotely even guessed. :-)

Should I get my air bag inspected?

I noticed that Takata just got fined 1 billion for faulty air bags. I was checking mine and I am worried that it may be faulty, but I am not certain that it is original equipment or not as the car...

Re: Classic Car Insurance

Actually it is a fairly common practice. Same thing happens at USAA when you try to insure a motorcycle and are directed to Progressive. It has nothing to do with what vehicle is related as you...

Re: Daily driving suggestions.

The tools you will need will always be the very ones you left on that workbench in your garage.

I drove the wheels off my '30 tudor as a daily driver and work vehicle for years before selling it....

Re: gas gauge rebuild

A bit off topic for this, but I bought an old crock pot at a thrift store for a couple of bucks. It does wonders for removal of rust on hinges and bolts and such by simply dropping in some water and...

Re: Hand wiper for a 30 closed car

Removed the second photo and edited my reply. I have some photos in my phone of the bracket installed in a pickup, but, unfortunately, I have no clue as to how to email them to myself so I can post...

Re: Hand wiper for a 30 closed car

The hand-held wiper assembly shown at Mike's Affordable in the previous photos posted would require a bracket if it is similar to the ones used on closed cab pickups. I believe that there is a...

Re: Light switch question

Put Vaseline onto the base of a light bulb and you won't like the results afterwards.

CorrosionX would do the same as dielectric grease. They make a light bulb grease sold at AutoZone and such...

Re: Car stalling at sudden stops.

This may sound odd, but my '30 tudor used to stop every time I drove a few hundred yards and came to a stop sign out in my street near work. It would then crank right back up, but it did this several...

Re: Repo ignition switch plate questions

Well, it appears that the disc is cut too large for the trim ring. I had a couple of different trim rings and it would not fit properly in any of them, no matter what I tried. Decided to chuck it...

Repo ignition switch plate questions

This is a bit difficult to explain so I hope you understand what i am asking:

I have an OFF and ON ignition switch plate which I am replacing on my '30 ccpu. The original one was missing when I...

Re: choke rod grommet

The richpin06a Model A videos on YouTube show a '31 choke rod grommet set being replaced. Not sure if it will apply to the earlier models or not, but it may be worth a look to see. I am not sure as...

Re: backup camera

Me, I am like Kathy Bate's character, Evelyn Couch, in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes when she smashed into the VW of those two brat gals, backed up and did it again and again. "I'm older and I have...

Anyone tried this one out?

Bill, my license plate probably conveys about the same idea. Not sure if I need to put it on the front or the back though. :-)

Re: backup camera

It would be nice if someone who is choosing to add a back up camera in the future would do a video of the installation as they put it in a Model A. ... And hey, be sure to film it with your camera...

Re: Dying art

We did like this in the attached photo, but with the skate wheels as you mentioned. We steered with our feet or a rope back then. :-)

Re: Dying art

I read a similar article just recently about Bowing and the problems with staying on. Seems the guy in the article used as an example had maybe 37 years with the plant. My brother-in-law did the same...

Re: gastankfillerscreenwoes

Will a long pair of forceps help at all? I have seen them at auto shows and at local hardware stores. Many have curved tips to them. Harbor Freight has curved nose pliers which may work to retrieve...

Re: Positive vs negative ground

In the early 70's I worked for Montgomery Wards (Monkey Wards) in their tire and battery department. Being inexperienced, young and stupid, I had an old Nash come in one day (Don't see them about...
