Re: 1934 Wagon colors

I think in general, standard models had a single black horn and deluxe cars had 2 with bright parts or entirely bright. At least that is the case for my 33 standard phaeton.

Re: 1934 Wagon colors

I might be wrong but I think in 34 and up to maybe 39, the wagons were considered commercial vehicles and color combos were maybe different then the passenger cars. Somewhere I think I read where my...

Re: red liquid fuel gauge?

If you look in my MISC folder of pictures, I have a bottle of the actual Ford red liquid. If you lived close enough to me to drive here I could help you, but this substance is unfortunately illegal...

Re: Woodie shop burns

My late friend from Ohio, Russell Bechkowiak (who died in 2017) told me he somehow had acquired the original Iron Mountain blueprints for 41-48 woodie bodies. After he passed, I wonder if Mike...

Re: Woodie shop burns

I only had contact with him at Hershey but he was quite helpful to me by selling me some metal pieces he made for the slider window channels I was missing. I feel really sorry for what he is going...

Re: Bad rebuilt starter from NAPA

The hardest thing for me to get used to when trouble shooting something is that "NEW DOES NOT = GOOD". I believe there is NO QC on anything anymore as it is far cheaper to just give the poor...

Re: Any one have success with a repair??

If you can get it clean enough a good TIG welder can probably fix that. If that is poor quality pot metal, there is a silver solder type product for pot metal that should work.

Re: chrome plating/ potmetal restoration

When they strip the old chrome off with a very toxic solution, often times the base metal is affected negatively. I had 5 NOS in the wrapper 40 deluxe headlight doors that were beautiful but...

Re: Seems like a darn good deal to me

Agree with 19Fordy, with reserve taken off at that low of price something major must have been needed. Woodie values do depress me though.

Re: '32 rear transmission mount

The trans mount should bolt up to the K member with no gaps. Sounds like either your TT is too long or the rear X member is not in the right place. Did you install an A rear X member? 32 3 and 4...

Re: 1933 production

Thanks David,
That makes sense as the difference between standard and deluxe were things that could be substituted easily along the assembly line.

Re: 1933 production

I'm not sure of the actual production number but I do know that as the last standard phaeton (all 34s were deluxe), my 33 is one of a VERY low number of units. Unfortunately 2 owners previous to me...

Re: 1934 radiator

i could measure my 33 from the top of the mounting bracket to the frame up, but it might not be the same as 34.

Re: 40 Ford Flywheel

Bowen5573, You may already know this but when parts came along the assembly line that had minor imperfections, they were sent to the "parts" department as the workers had no time to mess with it. I...

Re: 1940 radio

I can tell you who NOT to send it to. A friend sent a nice working 36 radio to Billtheradioguy in Shelton WA. The radio he got back was a 37, had things done not asked for and argued with him when...

Re: Lawson, How are you doing?

Gloves Lawson....Gloves. They make some now you can actually do work with while wearing them. I resisted for a long time but got tired of bleeding.
Heal up and get back at it.

Re: Center bearing

19Fordy,
With some work making the drawing, maybe it could be made with 3D printing. Just a thought. And thanks for your kind words Dick!

Re: Drive shaft lock pin

If that end sticking out was heated dull cherry red (with the red and green wrench), it would have been peened over in short order. Something that small would have heated up really fast and not...

Re: Diamond Back Bias Ply looking radials

I have them on both my 40s, stock wheels. No problems. Makes the cars drive really nice. The pictures in my 40 woodie album were when I had the bias ply tires on for Concourse judging. No longer...

Re: My 1939 Foed Deluxe Vert w/Rumble Seat

What you have there is one of the most desirable early Fords, a 39 convertible. Looks to be a very nice one at that. Welcome to this forum!

Re: Center bearing

Usually the rubber that holds the bearing has turned to snot. i have a picture of a NOS bearing in the Std Coupe album and the KRW tool that installs it in my MISC photo album.

Re: My 1939 Foed Deluxe Vert w/Rumble Seat

Unless a 39 back half of the car was grafted on, like Kube said 40s didn't have rumble seats. I think it must be a 39. A picture of the dash would help. If it was stuff grafted on a 40 it would be...
